Experience Life on a Sheep Farm

Glengowla Mines is also home to a working organic sheep farm, lovingly run by the Geoghegan family for generations. Here, our sheepdogs are more than helpers, they’re an essential part of our farming family.

Prepare to be amased as you witness the incredible bond between farmer and dog. Farm owner Keith Geoghegan and his expertly trained sheepdogs demonstrate the art of herding with skill, trust, and communication. As the dogs guide the sheep across the fields, Keith explains each command he gives, allowing you to see firsthand just how intelligent and responsive these remarkable animals are. Hear what farming in the West of Ireland truly entails, and learn how local farmers sustain a living in this rugged and beautiful landscape.

No need to worry about the weather—our viewing area is fully covered, so you’ll stay dry and comfortable even if the Irish skies decide to sprinkle a bit of rain.
Keith is always delighted to answer your questions about sheep farming in Connemara! You’ll also get to meet some of our friendly sheep, perfect for snapping a selfie… or a “sheepie,” as we like to call them.

In springtime, the farm becomes even more magical as our adorable baby lambs make an appearance. After all, who doesn’t love a baby lamb?
